Huntley Residents Put Quilting Techniques To Good Use

There is a group of ladies that are putting their quilting techniques and skills to good use by making quilts for kids in need in Afghanistan. This is an ongoing project, done with love, by the ladies at the Sun City Prairie Lodge. They gather in the club's sewing room to create their projects that are made with donated scraps of fabric. The finished quilts are then being sent to US troops for distribution. They have made more than 100 quilts so far. We are sure the children of Afghanistan are appreciating the ladies efforts. Mary Lou Harp, a quilter, has made up this phrase that fits perfectly, "Peace through quilts...not war." We agree. This is a great project that proves the generosity of many Americans.
