The quilt gardens are something like your Grandmother's or Aunt's quilt. All are on a square or rectangular plot of land replicating designs using flowers, plants and shrubs. There are 16 quilt gardens in Elkhart County using 80,000 blooming annuals and admission is free. Many visitors come again and again they love it so much.

Unique Quilting Designs Of Gee's Bend

quilting designsYou may or may not have heard about the quilters of th small rural community of Gee's Bend southwest of Selma, Alabama. With the long and rich history of the people came the bold geometric quilts that are prized possessions today. Many resembling modern art they are truly unique quilting designs that are created by masters of their profession. Quilting down from at least six generations the brilliant quilts have been displayed in the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York which has brought tremendous international acclaim. There are more than 50 quilter's of Gee's Bend living today.
